From Denver to Toongether
Hi, I’m Suiyaki Tems!
I am a new writer from Denver, Colorado, mostly known for my recent adventure story Death At Sea! My writing is cuckoo, with action, fantasy, and a dash of mystery! I am thankful I found the Toongether community to tell my stories!
Finding Inspiration in the App’s Tools
I find ideas for my stories from the backgrounds and characters we are given within the app. At first, it’s quite challenging, but when I stopped trying to find the perfect background or character, my ideas flowed better! I worked with what I had and built my story from there. Death At Sea came from seeing a pirate ship background.
Building Characters From Personal Connections
What inspires me is fun storytelling! My process can be all over the place, but I remind myself to have fun! I try to make relatable and likable characters, so I use my friends and family as inspiration. I rework my chapters, then I reread the chapter before publishing. Sometimes it takes me a week to complete a chapter.
The Impact of a First Comment
The first time I hit the publishing button, I was extremely nervous. Since you can’t really tell how many views you get, and there is no “liking” feature, I assumed no one was reading my story. I almost deleted it until I received my first comment. It helped me to keep writing. A story I recommend is Monster by Canned Tea.
Drafts Ready for Future Adventures
My next story will be another fun, thrilling, and mysterious tale that I hope you will love! My current focus is on Death At Sea, but I have a few stories in my drafts that will be released soon! Thank you, Toongether community, for welcoming my story!
